Lavender London Fog- Mood Elixir
Lavender Syrup
Lavender London Fog is one of my favorite drinks. It's a wonderful earl gray tea latte made with vanilla, lavender, tea and milk. I make mine with homemade lavender syrup.
I don't know about you, but for me, lavender is mood enhancing and relaxing. Making and using lavender syrup? That's a mood elixir for sure. Sure you can buy lavender syrup, but the ones I have found are either pretty expensive or full of ingredients I don't want to knowingly ingest.
Lavender Syrup Recipe
Making lavender syrup is really easy with just a few tools and ingredients. I recommend a pot to simmer, strainer, container for strained liquid and ice cube trays. If you don’t happen to have a lavender field nearby, you can get these off amazon, make sure you get the culinary dried lavender flowers.
Recipe:
1 cup Filtered water
1 cup Natural cane sugar
4-6 T Culinary lavender flowers
Method:
Bring water to a boil, add the lavender flowers and drop down to a simmer. Cover and simmer for 5-10 minutes. (Keeping the pot covered, you could go 15 minutes if you like a stronger syrup.) Remove the lid, add your sugar or sweetener, stir to dissolve and simmer for another 10 minutes. Let the syrup cool a few minutes before straining out the flowers. Pour liquid into ice cube trays.
Once cubes are frozen, move them to a freezer safe container. If you prefer not to freeze, the syrup will keep in the refrigerator for a week in a sealed container. The benefit of using the freezer cubes is you can make a Lavender London Fog whenever you want!
Lavender London Fog Recipe
Making a Lavender London Fog using the lavender syrup cubes couldn't be easier! You can use any choice of milk you would like, I personally love this with oat milk.
Recipe:
1-2 Earl gray tea bags
1 lavender syrup cube
⅛ tsp Vanilla extract
8 Oz hot water
4 Oz hot milk of choice
Method:
Brew your tea in 8 Oz of water. Heat the milk and lavender in a pot or microwave, add vanilla. If you have a milk frother and like some foam to your latte, froth away! Otherwise remove the tea bags from your tea, add the milk mixture and stir to enjoy!
Other ideas for the lavender syrup:
You are not limited to lattes with this syrup. You can use it on pancakes and waffles, put it in your coffee, make a lavender cocktail or mocktail.
Lavender Lemonade
Lavender Pancake Syrup
Lavender Frosting (this one is SOOO good)
Lavender Iced Tea
Lavender Hot Chocolate
Lavender Cookies
To make any of the above, its really just about taking your recipe and adding a cube or two till you get the desired result.
